100 Stories of Elementary English Cloze Test

Story 1 - My Best Friend

My name is Lily and I am in the fifth grade. My best friend is Sarah. She is very tall and has long blonde hair. She is also very smart and always gets A’s in all her classes. Sarah is very friendly and always happy. We like to play soccer together after school and sometimes we even go to the park and play on the swings.

One day Sarah was very sad. She told me that her family is moving away to another city and she will have to leave our school. I was very sad too. But Sarah said that we can still be friends and we can talk on the phone and email each other all the time. I was very happy to hear that and then we hugged and said goodbye.

Story 2 - A Trip to the Aquarium

My family and I went to the aquarium last weekend. It was very fun! There were so many different fish and sea creatures to see. We saw sharks, turtles, and even a dolphin show! My favorite part was the touch pool where we got to touch a starfish and a sea urchin. It was slimy but very cool!

After the aquarium, we went to the gift shop and I got a stuffed penguin toy. I named him Pablo and now he is my new favorite toy. I can’t wait to show him to all my friends at school and tell them about my trip to the aquarium!

Story 3 - The Science Fair

Last week was the school science fair. I was so excited to show my volcano experiment! I made a volcano out of clay and baking soda and when I added vinegar to it, it erupted! It was very cool and all the other students and teachers liked it too.

There were many other science projects at the fair too. Some students made robots and others made wind turbines. I thought they were very creative and interesting! At the end of the day, there was a prize for the best project. I didn’t win, but it was okay because I still had a lot of fun at the science fair!
